LT GEN KAMAL DAVAR TAKES OVER AS DIRECTOR GENERAL MECHANISED FORCES
Lt General Kamal Davar assumed the appointment of Director General Mechanised Forces at Army Headquarters.
An alumni of the National Defence Academy Khadakwasla, General Davar was commissioned in famous 7th Light Cavalry, one of the highest decorated Regiments of Armoured Corps. He later commanded 86 Armoured Regiment of which he holds the appointment of the Colonel of the Regiment. He is also the Colonel of 74 Armoured Regiment as well.
A veteran of 1965 and 1971 Indo Pak Operations, he was wounded in action of 1965 war in the Lahore sector.
Lt Gen Davar is a graduate of the Defence Services Staff College. He has held various staff, instructional and command appointments. He was member of the Indian Military Training team in Iraq, commanded an armoured brigade, instructor at College of Combat commanded the Ladakh Division AND Chief of Staff of a Corps in Jammu and Kashmir. He was till recently the General Officer Commanding of a Corps in Western Sector.
A keen environmentalist, Lt Gen Kamal Devar was the force behind the successful campaign to plant lakhs of trees and clean the Harike bird Sanctury in Punjab.
