KARGIL VIJAY DIVAS - GOVERNMENT’S APPEAL TO PEOPLE TO LIGHT CANDLES ON JULY 26TH EVENING Government has appealed to people all over the country to light lamps and candles outside their homes on Wednesday, July 26, 2000 in memory of the martyrs who sacrificed their lives facing Pakistani aggression in Kargil last year.As reported earlier, July 26 is being observed as ‘Kargil Vijay Divas’ to commemorate India’s victory over Pakistan’s misadventure in Kargil.
President, Prime Minister and other dignitaries will lay wreaths at Amar Jawan Jyoti, India Gate in the morning on this day. In the evening, lamps and candles will be lit at India Gate and houses all over the country.
